steam heat

Dennis, It sounds like your air vents are not doing the job. Air vents are found usually on the radiators opposite the valve. their job is to let air out of the radiator so steam can get in. Do you have a 1 pipe steam or a 2 pipe steam system? (1 pipe has only one pipe from the floor with a valve on it, going to the radiator. 2 pipe systems have a pipe at each end of the radiator).

The other set of vents are usually in the basement where the main pipe turns down to the floor and becomes a condensate return back to the boiler. These vents let the large pipes purge air so they too can fill with steam. These are called main vents and usually are larger than the radiator vents. All of these vents can get filled with rust or painted shut and stop working. I would inspect them and see if you can blow through them. or just replace the ones on the cold radiators. best of luck

Some of my radiators get's hot only half way and some on the the last room on the 3rd floor doesn't get hot is always cool. What can I do to correct this problem? Also what set up should I put for honeywell pressuretrol controller for the steam boiler pressure rating set point? Thanks for the help!
