New Panel - DF

Where is the panel made? It looks very neat. We have some big projects coming up where a panel like that would save me a tremendous amount of labor that I could devote to other work. Price? You can email that privately if you want. The Prestige looks to be a quality piece of equipment. My brother-in-law put one in his house when I could not get my hands on a GB 142/24. It has performed well so far. Although the recommended piping arrangement when using a indirect looked odd at first sight. The heat exchanger looks like a shell and tube style. Is that correct? I am sure your project will come out excellent as per your normal standards.

IVAR-NA
We are trying out this Panel made by IVAR-NA. I first saw them at ISH-NA in Boston. It looks to be top shelf stuff. This panel incorporates two mixed zones, one high temp zone, air separation, LLH, fill valve, exp. tank, and PABV's all pre-piped. Controls must be field installed and wired but I hear that may change soon as the controls become listed. -DF

Boiler
The multi zone system is driven by a Prestige Solo. DHW is through a Smart 60 tank. There is one radiant slab zone, two staple up zones, and several high temp Runtal zones. -DF

I see
you're liking the Prestiges too. Put 3 in this fall and more are proposed. One thing I learned is that it is a good idea to install the LWCO above the boiler on the relief valve piping. This way, if the boiler gets full of air, the LWCO will lock out to prevent a dry fire.

Prestige
Boilerpro,
We really like the Prestiges and have over a dozen installed. We have started putting the LWCO on the relief valve piping as well. We install an auto vent in the tee above to prevent air lock. -DF

A very nice looking panel!
I like the cast brass modular headers.
What brand of mix valve components?
Does the indirect pipe from that manifold of right at the boiler connection?
Pricey, compared to the other brands out there?

Panels
I saw them at ISH boston as well. I think they are neat, but I havent found a project that would justifiy the price.

no labor?
looks good, but is there no money to be made in plumbing up these panel?
seems the more 'out of the box' the less money you can make?0 -
jp,
With the rate of work we are seeing...time IS money!! (ad nausium)
If I can cut a day of piping from a job with something pre-made and get on to the next...I'm in.
Nice looking stuff Dan. I got to the Boston show just in (Milne) time for the seminar on CO with the pro's, and didn't get to the floor as it was the last day at closing time.
I miss the prospect of installing a Danfoss panel and will ask ....do you think this is as nice? Personally, I like the "open look". My customers would probably want the "encased units" vs. these, given the choice. I like the show-off ability of this product but would like YOUR opinion . Chris0 -
Panels
HR,
I don't know what brand of mixing valve but I'll check and let you know. I will use a tekmar control to drive them. -DF

Very Sharp look to that panel.
i like the crossovers, the seperator and tank look clean too. I got to think it would save a Group of time ....
LLH are very tidy.0 -
$$
JP,
My technicians time is $$$. If I can do more jobs, neatly, uniformly, accurately, with less callbacks, that is money in the bank.
I could order my boilers knockdown, make my own controls using PLC's, field fabricate relay panels with transformers and relays - but I don't. This is just an extension of the same reasoning. -DF

Panel
Hi Chris,
This is the first IVAR panel we have used and it is far from complete but so far I am impressed with the quality of the product. I have installed plenty of the Danfoss panels and was very happy with that product. I'd be surprised if that product was not reincarnated soon. As far as "open" vs. "closed" look, it is depedent upon the job and what you find visually pleasing. Space limitations will also dictate which direction you go. Give 'em I try - I'll bet you like them. -DF

IVAR
Hi Darin,
IVAR-NA is based in Canada but I believe the parent company is Italian. I can't tell you for sure where the panel is made. I will e-mail you details. Labor savings is the prime motivator but uniformity and trouble free installations are also positive reasons to use these panels. My customers marvel at them.
I have yet to install the GB but I have admired your work and hope to use one soon. We have been happy with the Prestiges and like the integrated controls, welded stainless steel heat exchangers, low pressure drop, and relatively high water content (as compared to other wall hungs). -DF
