People running off with the mail...
SOB's thinking real stupid these days. Any of you had any close up experience with people stealing mail and switching bills for credit at someone elses bank account?then writing checks on their account to pay some other bank account ?
my entire morning was consumed with this new "diversion" to the working man...I am after it like white on rice. The local constabulary will nail those low lifes pretty soon.they seemed to think few years in jail, i offered them another more civilized and less expensive remedy.0 -
I can loose money fast enough myself
Never happened to us and we have been married 34 years and had a business at one time .
I feel your frustration

Identity Theft
Unsecured mail is the devil's playground. Check scams too now. The most common are the credit card offers, the kind that flow like water into your mailbox? Those are "pre-approved" gold to those that can get them. All a person needs is some corroborative information like your address and phone number, can make up a SSN to activate the card and go on a shopping spree.
My sister had this happen to her, by so-called "friends" of her daughter. Then YOU have to prove it was not you who spent an afternoon at Six Flags with 20 of your closest friends...
Newer systems require you to call from your home phone (caller ID as another verification point). Of course, in my sister's case, the perpetrators had access to the phone...
And nobody (NOBODY) should give their SSN over the phone for any kind of identification.
(Says on the card, "not to be used for identification". Right.)
Good Luck Weezbo. I feel your pain too.0 -
I keep meaning to get a secure, locking mailbox. This topic may make me get to it.0 -

Sorry to hear that...
I hope that you won't end up out of any money and that the thieves will get caught. Best of luck, Weezbo.0 -
Lost files
Our bank recently lost a confidential tape with UPS as the carrier.
They offered one year fraud protection. How about the rest of my life? They lost the tape and I pay the price?

what do you mean by "switching bills for credit at the bank".
This may be a new one for me?

Ed it is like a pyramid where one\" investor\"pays the divedend
on the other "investors" in the stock. The major exception being no one is even aware of it for a month or more.
i just got a call from some educational loan outfit,i directed them to call the local and state police and told them it is now a part of a federal investigation and would he give me his phone number and name. guy couldnt get off the phone fast enough.0
