NEW BOILER

Only you know your capabilities and abilities to do the job right so as to limit the possibilities of call backs, etc. We usually add a little for misc. expenses on the job, and always include some labor for follow-up, adjustments and warranty work...too many leave this out and it can eat the profit from a job a year down the road. Only you can determine what you need to CYA on every job...they're all different and all pose a different set of possibilities for trouble, but experience will dictate how much extra is necessary to cover the unforseen...

Being from a family that has been in this business since the beginning of the last century, I usually call my Grandfather to borrow his magic boiler wand. It has gotten me out of many a sooty jam.

Seriously, can you be more specific in your request? What, at the jobsite, were you not able to see that you require some sort of contingency budget?

I try to be very specific

I put in exactly what I am going to install and the job scope. Always add a disclaimer about old corroded pipe and any additional work will be extra. Just spend enough time to really look at the job, take good notes and write up what you will do. I usually write a couple of drafts 'fore it goes in the computer for printing
