U want to do that? it would not be my first path to take....i kinda think you would want it inside the building envelope ...even if it were only within the vapor barrier....

    ecoflex piping

I am doing a install that will require me to run piping in the home owners attic, has any one here used ecoflex piping in a situation like this, i am trying to avoid using anti freeze and the attic has blown in insulation.
the other thing i thought of was running the pipes inside a pvc sleeve and insulating the ends, any suggestions would be great

    Could you

install insulated pex below the blown in, and against the sheetrock of the room below? Seems this should stay above the freezing point.

You could try a 2" diameter piece of Insulseal. We use this for outdoor piping appliations. Quite a bit less $$ than the premade dual tube products. It allows you to install what ever tube or wires you need. And it could double as a water proof condiut in the rare case the tubes inside did break and leak!

I have seen contractors run a single strip of self regulating heat tape cable along the tube. It would kick on only when it got to near freezing temperatures. Use a good top quality brand. I've used Frostex in the past, under manufactured house, trailers and RV applications. Some brands are wrapped in a stainless braid for extra protection. Make sure heat tape products meet the tube and insulation manufactures requirements.
