Old house
I'm running 1/2 pex from a manifold to old cast iron radiators. 4 of the radiators are across the basement 30 feet, perpendicular to the joists. I was going to drill holes and thread the pex through, but ducts impede the way. I started to use talons and strap them along across the bottom of the joists, but it looks like it will droop in heating season. Any creative thoughts are welcome. WW

Pull the pex through and clamp it up with two hole pvc clamps....

Well you could use more talons. One talon every other joist.
EDIT: I hope I didnt make it sound like you didnt try that yet.
Is this set up for 180 water?

More like 160 degree water
This is an old house built in the late 1800's. There was an old gravity system but now it will have a munchkin with outdoor reset and constant circ. The rads are big cast iron beasties that were oversized to begin with, but now will be way oversized because the GC has torn down the walls and will be giving it a big upgrade on the insulation. I'm kicking myself that I didn't go with PAP, but hindsight is 20/20. I think that even with talons on every joist I will see some sag. I was thinking of taking some 3 or 4 inch pvc and cutting it in half lengthwise on a table saw, and then using it as a saddle to bunch the bundle and strap it up to the joists. I not sure how that would look though or how much work it would entail. Am I missing anything obvious? WW

We use "touch-down" clamps by Sioux Chief on every joist and have had no sagging issues.
The "touch-down" clamps are fantastic!

Multi core
When I do my longer runs I use multi core. No sagging less hangers.
If you want to you can convert to pex at the end of the run.

copper
Call me old fashioned, but I would use copper because it doesn't cost any more and it will suspend beautifully across there. A few expensive transition fittings is the only drawback if you must switch materials at the risers. Another thing- all those pex and pap fittings are really only half the nominal diameter on the inside.0 -
Small boxed soffit. *~/:)
tried the bundeled approach, tried the talon clamp thing tried the clip track, so, i run the pex in the floor joist or wall or box soffit...thats about as neat of an appearance as i have found.0 -
PAP
makes the most sense to meI believe some manufactures now off straight 20 foot lengths of Pex al pex.
