Steam w/ HW loop
I have seen these systems work successfully without harm to the steam boiler. The warranty is a different issue. You should check with the manufacturer before deciding. Proper piping of a steam boiler is essential for a long life. Most steam boiler failures are due to improper piping. I have come across many steam boilers that are 30+ years old. Adding a baseboard loop or a radiant loop is feasible, but precautions should be taken: heat load, temperature protection, proper use of controls.0 -
water loop off steamer
the best advise I can give is to use a plate heat exchanger or a small everhot. This will protect the boiler and should not jeapardize any warrantee, but as posted previously, check with you manufacturers rep.
