why there's so much competition. Sorry to here about the airlines Dave.

On the bright side, sounds like you had a great trip. Ahhh Fat Tires, icy cold.

I take it ME got you up in the mountains, it truly is an amazing view. Wonderfull place Colorado. I start to miss the salt air after awhile, but that view can get ya.

Glad you had a great time. You deserve it.

Scott

Hit the disconnect switch for a week.....

and, man oh man, was that ever sweet! Going from 300 ft above sea level to 8,500 in one day can really make for some huffin & puffin, but as ME and others said - trink wasser - lots of it. And so we did - so much so, I found it necessary to pull over about every 1/3 mile so one of us could - ah-hem - de-hydrate a wee (pun intended) bit.

Spent the week on a dude ranch run by the fiestiest 81-year-young bronco-bustin lady you could ever meet. She's my adopted mom now! Too cool for words & as we took off horseback riding, her stud decided he was going to throw her off. Ha! Was he ever mistaken. She busted the bronk out of that stud like you'd expect from an 18-year-old rodeo-rider.

Tuesday, Lois & I met up with ME & TLMrsME for a great tour of another segment of what has to be the most breathtaking State in our Union - Colorado. Wow! Great tour, great friends and great food - as well as a few Fat Tires, which turn into Spare Tires! THANKS ME & MrsME - we owe ya big time.

Stopped by the RPA offices on the way home too. Surprise visit, but the entire staff rose to the occasion. Very hospitable bunch & a hearty thanks to all.

Tomorrow - back to reality & work.

Sucked to come down out of the mountains and see the news about London. Made us want to turn around and go back to a disconnected existance. But, we can't disconnect in this oh-so-connected world, can we. They can kill us, but never our spirit or our thirst for freedom. Met a Brit from London in Denver yesterday. Nice chap & very stoic attitude regarding the when, not if, of the unfolding events. As with our connections to 9/11 - he had flesh involved and missing by way of friends and co-workers.

Then there's Delta Airlines - a pox on you. We arranged for wheelchairs at the three airports weeks ago. Were told it'd be a breeze. Confirmed them three times in the past three weeks so's my aging parents (87 & 85) could be whisked about the various airports. Not once were they ready or waiting. Apathy and an I-don't-give-a-rat's-**** attitudes prevailed. Standing & waiting in the un-air conditioned de-plaining corridors with folks whose health is already questionable is an ordeal I wouldn't wish on anyone.

    Welcome back Cottter!!

Just got back from a weekend of high altitude fishin' in "L'il Sparky" the ol' E- boat myself.

Glad to see everyone made it back unscated, save a few self important airline employees. Maybe the next time you come out, I can take you to a few special fishin' holes I've had the opportunity to acquaint myself with...

    The fishing!

In our all-day float down the mighty Colorado through some of the most rugged and beautiful country-side, Mike kicked all of our butts in the morning session, which cost us a few bucks(G).

A second contingent of cousins passed our four boats mid-morning in their quest for white-water excitement & my niece's husband had a super-soaker with which he gleefully targeted the fisher-persons!

The afternoon's fishing saw me catch up to tie Mike & we split the pot(G). My best catch & release was a mighty 18" Brook Trout who gave me a great fight. At one point we hit a stretch where almost every cast brought a reaction - talk about getting your blood pumping! I think I've been converted to being a dry-fly-guy.

Lots of wildlife including an Eagle perched in a tree just over our heads, a river otter and two beaver we floated past.

The white-water class III rapids were fun to try standing and fishing through!
