Will nat draft boiler with 7" b vent condense water in a 30 degree pitched run in unheated attic space before penetrating the roof? b vent following parallel with rafters. michigan winters / ventilated attick temps nearly equalt to outide temps.

Probably more i should ask about here .. so tell me more too.

    yup

Make sure it is the smallest size you can use , then insulate it, better still go up to a direct vent boiler and then you won't have to worry about it .

    .

It dripped onto the floor in the attic but would never come through to the ceiling. I'm not sure what they did because the GC dealt with it.

    Insulating B-vent?

Joel, surely you're not advocating insulating the B-vent pipe?? This can be a fire hazard! Clearances are air spaces..

    Why ?

we by insulated flexable stainless liner for oil all the time and that is much hotter than b vent . You can insulate a 800f wood stove stack with the right material I'm not seeing why bvent is any different ?

    listings

liners are listed for use with insulation.............inside chimneys.

A factory chimney or B-vent is tested and listed for use with a specified clearance. This clearance is an airspace. If you wrap the pipe, the nearby combustibles can and will overheat. Also, the stack temp. can exceed design limts. Let me put it this way: If you pack insulation around B-vent and there is an Oops!, the B-vent mfr., builder, appliance mfr. and everyone else will do everthing in their power to hang you out to dry. You are violating a products listed instructions. As a HVAC professional, you are expected to know better and are held to a higher std. It can get worse but please, don't insulate where it isn't tested and listed for that use.

BTW, just for the heck of it, what material do you use to wrap B-vent?

Not wanting to embarrass you. Just sharing a mfrs. Rep.s perspective.
