I would really have to wonder where it went? Had some bad flooding here in the last two day's and this was just one of the problems they ran into...

Evidently they
didn't follow FEMA Guidelines to secure it, LOL!
Have a video of a similar tank going down the White River in Vermont with the gas still coming out and spinning the tank, amazing!0 -
Reminds me
of a forman pulling into our yard one afternoon with a 500 gallon propane tank on the back of his truck and the valve open. He was purging the tank on his way back to the shop.
It just wasn't his time.
You can not make up these stories.

I saw those while
taking fire/arson investigation training, amazing!
Thanks for the link Ed, been trying to find those.0 -
an interesting thought
It would be interesting after watching those video's to find out the actual amount of gas loose in the building...I have a feeling it was not as much as people would think..0 -

I won't go into a lot of detail about your question, but you are absolutely correct about the quantity of gas.
The most violent explosion with the least amount of fire afterwards would occur when the gas quantity is just slightly above the LEL (Lower Explosion Limits) relative to the fuel air mixture.
The most fire afterwards with less structural damage occurs when the fuel air mixture is slightly less than the UEL, (Upper Explosion Limits).
If you have some time and want to experience some very informative reading about the subject, reference the book in the attachment. It is a bit expensive for recreational reading but it is a wealth of information.

Wow. That sends chills down my spine.0 -
The towns listed, Lake Crystal, Glencoe, etc. are all in my area. Not sure if the same people set up all the demonstrations.0
