Steam Pipe Insulation?

with 1-1/2 thick insulation The tees usually are cut into the straignt lengths of pipe insulation. Elbows are wrapped with a diamond shaped piece of insul then a Plastic cover the same size as the insulation is placed over it holding the wrapping in place. I'd bet the cost of fitted insulation for pipe fittings and its thousands of different configurations would be out of sight. If you want expert looks, get a pipe insulation contractor to do the job. That'd beat the cost of fitted fitting insul quick!

    Steam Pipe Insulation?

    Hi all -

    I'm getting ready to insulate my main supply lines off the boiler and just wanted some thoughts on the best way to approach insulating them. I have seen a couple of types, but wanted some expert advice. I know they make some that specifically fit over each type of fitting, but can't seem to find a brand name.

    THanks for any help/direction.
    cheers
    John

    Cost = same insulation?

    Do the fancy more expensive ones have any more insulating effect?

    Thanks!

    mitred joints

    you can use fibreglass insulation & mitre the right angle connections in lieu of using prefabricated molded fitting covers. might save you a few shekels that you can then invest in fuel. lol
