I have a job i wounld like to install a residential Munchkin boiler with the vision 1 package. Is there any pros or cons to installing a condesing boiler like this if i am only having all high temp zones and dom. hwh? Will I utilize the high effiecency of this boiler or is it a waste?AM I better off with a non condensing boiler?I am trying to give my customer the best for there money. Will they save on fuel if I go that route?Little confused on how condesing boilers differ from non codesing boiler?ANY ADVICE ....Thanks

    Steve,

In all honesty, you will not receive the same benefit from the condensing part of the boiler, that you would if you were running a low temp radiant system.

Having said that, you will receive the benefits of using a modulating boiler. I am sure you have heard the "cruise control" analogy. Take it one step further. Cruise control in the mountains. Set your car at 60, and it will give more gas going up the mountain (high demand) and less gas going down the mountains (low demand). If you take the Vision one class, and choose to become certified for that control package, you can add outdoor reset. If you were to do a partial reset curve, so that your high temp baseboard would get what it needed for an effective output, you could still benefit from the condensing side of the boiler.

Any low mass, condensing, modulating boiler will benefit your customers energy bill. The most important thing, is that you are comfortable with the product and the level of support you can get locally.

    modulating/condensing

I've installed one in my own house and life is good. Turn the key and it goes.

While the best performance can be extracted with low output temps, the high temp performance is superior to a non-condensing anything. The cool thing is that the venting is easy (follow the book) and I have no piping or controls to protect the boiler from low return water temps. With vision 1 the controls and piping layout become so simple that the munchkin would be a good solution if it only had average efficiency.
