Tekmar and zone control

...I am in the UK right now. Will be on the road for another 3 weeks. Will stop by as often as I can.

As far as the wiring goes: connect the X-X terminals on the TACO to the tekmar 256 on terminals 7 and 9 (T and C). This connection can only be made when there is flow past the sensor. In other words, the main boiler/system pump has to be running at that time.
If you fail to provide flow past the sensor, it may cause short cycling of the boiler. Please dont forget that the only way we know the propper boiler temperature is when the supply sensor can read it. If the pump is off, the boiler temperature will be (at times) significantly higher than where the sensor is located at.

I hope this makes sense. If not, please call my good friends Paul Williamson or Michael VanDerHoek at 250-545-7749.

Best Regards,

Mike

    controls

I had to do something similar and had to use only the hardware available. It is a radiant injection system coupled to an all basebaord multi zone sustem. I used a Taco ZVC404 switching package with Taco zone valves. A Tekmar 508 stat, a 356 control, D-070 sensors and a American Stabilis MR-100 switching relay. if you provide a fax number, I will send you wiring diagrams and sequence of operation. The job was all hot water baseboard with only radiant in the kitchen. The kitchen was renovated by a friend whose contractor was removed from the job for non-performance. Because he was a friend and the job was already in the red, I agreed to do it with just the supplies already provided. It has been in operation for 3 years and does work, although it is not according to Hoyle. Let me know.

    hook up

The Taco shall have TT terminal outputs for when there is a call for heat.

Use these contacts to energise the 256 control (if controlling boiler "on demand").

COnnect 1-TT term to "C" on Transformer (same trans as powering 256). COnnect other TT Term to Terminal #7 ("T") on the 256. This creats a demand for heat to the 256.

If the Boiler is NOT to be fiored "on demand", run a jumper from 9 to 7 (C to T) on the 256 for a constant demand for heat.

    hope this helps...
I kinda thought HydronicsMike would have stepped in by now. sorry for delay.

    some help

I put a few pics together of a zone-valve controller and a 256, again this is a representation and might not have all of the things in your system, but you should see how they connect. I also grabbed the application drawing of the 256 from the tekmar site, (a great source of info) hope this helps.

Great to be in heating season again.
