    I=B=R Instructor Ken Secor

    From the message:

    Ken Secor worked on the largest steam boiler in the world, “Big Alice,” owned and operated by Con-Ed in New York City back when he was 19. He was “hooked” on boilers ever since. His love and fascination with heating and boilers never waned and during his 12 year tenure at NCR (National Cash Register), repairing, designing and installing business operating systems, he attended college nights for eight years majoring in business and law.

    In 1976 Palmer (his middle name), was started with a niche service market of G.E. boilers in his Levittown-type Rahway, NJ neighborhood—and has grown from a part time venture to a million dollar a year wet heat only, heating, design-build and service contractor.

    In addition to his duties running Palmer Heating, Mr. Secor is a member of ASHRAE, a former state director for the NJ-PHCC, writes a weekly column for a local newspaper, and enjoys free lance writing on technical wet heat issues, small business operations, and business ethics in various trade journals and websites.

    His wife Mary, of 40 years (a registered nurse), four sons and four grandchildren are the love of his life. He plans to turn Palmer Heating over to his son Scott, sell his home in New Jersey and move to a second home owned on the top a mountain in Vermont. Suspecting he would be bored to tears retiring, (he is now 61), Mr. Secor plans to teach as many classes as I=B=R/BNP would like, do consulting work in northern New England and continue to write.

    Are there any Jazz clubs in Burlington???? If so, you may need to come down the mountain now and then. Good Luck. WW

    Congrats, Big Guy!

    Have a great retirement! Take up cross country skiing or get a couple of Labrador Retrievers and a side-by-side 12 gauge and ruin the day for some ducks. Or maybe a nice German Shorthair and the aforementioned 12 gauge and go find some grouse! Or just sit there watching the fire burn in the fireplace, a little Bob James on the stereo, "adult beverages" close at hand...you get the idea!
