Wirsbo/Tekmar snow melt help
I just fired up a 600 sq ft snow melt using for the first time a Wirsbo Promix 212 with the snow melt enable control which I believe is a condensed version of Tekmar 362 mixing control. I am having some growing pains with it as I can't seem to get it to perform like I was expecting. I can't seem to get high enough temp going out to do the job. Will be going back out later today to tinker with it. My real question though is after it runs for about an hour a device error message pops up. This is not listed in the error code guide. Any body know what it means. Everything still seems to operate during the message. all circs including the variable speed keep working.0 -
Control
Normal parameters on the Promix 212 should be that the snowmelt operation is only for "Mix 2" demand.
After confirming Mix 2 for snowmelt operation I would check the slab setting which is also the snowmelts operating Warm Weather Shut Down (WWSD). Also check the Cold Weather Cut Off (CWCO) to ensure these (adjustable) parameters are not the roadblock to your systems operation.
It has been my experience that some trouble can occur with the snowmelt sensor if it is not sealed properly. As this NTC sensor operates off of Ohms resistance, water on this sensor will affect the operation negatively.
The Snowmelt Enable kit IS polarity sensative. Make sure you have those correct at terminals 24 & 27.
EDIT: It would also be helpful to know what the snowmelt enable module is doing.
Flashing green light indicates slab is operating and coming up to temp. Solid Green light indicates slab temp has reached setpoint and run time has begun. Solid red light indicates system manually stopped. Flashing red light usuall indicates operation cannot continue within programmed parameters.

More detail
I am using it as a snow melt only. It is in mode 2 snowmelt. The outdoor temp was 25 the slab temp was showing 30 and the slab melting temp was set for 36. The max supply temp was set for 150. I turned unit on with enable control set for 4 hours. Everything came on as expected. It ramped up and down holding a mixed temp of about 50. I changed settings and it moved target up to about a 100 and the mixed supply got there and held. The slab temp never budged from 30 after running for about 3 hours total.
During this time the green light was flashing. After about a hour of running I noticed a red flashing light. When I looked at display it showed device err. All circs sill running and mixed supply holding at 100. Reset and again same results. The device error is not in the trouble shooting guide. Just wondering what it is. I will be going back out to job later today or tomorrow and will play with settings .
I did also check for polarity on the enable kit and it was right.

Could Be
That you have the wrong enable kit. There are two or three versions. New & old or old & new may not work. Call tech services with the model numbers and date codes. 800-321-4739
