Need more info
NEWS ITEM:
"Explosion at Northeast Phila. restaurant kills worker
A maintenance man working on the air compressor system at a restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia was killed today in a small explosion, officials said.
Initial reports indicated that a freon tank had exploded.
The man, who was not identified, was working on the air compressor system at the Friendly's Restaurant on Roosevelt Boulevard and Red Lion Road about 2:30 when the explosion occurred, said Fire Department Executive Chief Daniel Williams.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the blast was under investigation."
I heard the tech's name is Jeffrey Buckman, 36, of Gloucester Twp., NJ Married, father of two. He was employed by Service Specialists in either Blackwood, NJ or Woodbury, NJ. I couldn't get a definitive answer but I left a voicemail message at a Service Specialist business near these locations. If anyone has any information please post it here or pass it along to me. These kids just lost a father and are going to need a lot of help. Thanks.
(P.S. Where is Frank from Philly when we need him?)0 -
Thats what happen
Thats what happens when you take away the safety on the recovery bottle so you can compete in a cheap market.
You remember when the recovery equipment first came out.All
the equipment require the use of a bottle with a safety float switch.
Now you have to weigh it in.And how many people send the scale back in to have them calibrated?
What ever happen to the term...safety first.

Death
The newspapers and television have been reporting different facts in the case. The latest unofficial explaination is the Tech was pressurizing the refrigeration system with nitrogen, only the nitrogen bottle did not have a regulator. If the system was overpressurized that much, disaster would be immenent.0 -
lawyer
Sounds like this information needs to go to a personal injury lawyer for the children's sake.

OK _ enough BULL................................................
What are WE going to do to help his family? I propose, with Dan's Blessing, that we start a scholarship fund for the children of those lost in OUR line of duty. It doesn't have to be alot, even....if after 10 years in a fund, it pays for the first years' books for college, we would be making a contribution. I put $100.00 toward the fund...who's next? Mad dog

The paper
identified the company as Service Specialist of New Jersey. The man's name was not given in the newspaper, although an earlier post has a name.0
