Sorry, the Model is a K-500-7B. It is a commerical boiler. The K means knockdown, series 5, 7 section, steam boiler.

    Steam Problem

I need a little help. I have a boiler that is a Burnham K500-7 its rated for 1758 sq.ft EDR. The connected load is 485 Sq. Ft EDR. with a 2" header and main. Yeah, I know the boiler is over sized, but hey, I didn't install the darn thing just trying to find a problem. The boiler fires up fast heats the house fine when the outdoor temperature is at 35 deg. and above. When it is below 35 deg. the boiler works fine but takes along time to start up again after a heating cycle. The pressuretrol is set for 1/2 psig cut-in and 1.5 psig cut-out. All LWCO and Feeder works fine as per the M&M manual and boiler manual. I am thinking about installing a vaporstat! Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks,
    John

    Did the system

originally have a lot more radiation than it now does?

Regardless, that boiler is so oversized that I'd suggest replacing it, no matter what its condition might be.

I can't find that boiler model in any of my references- closest thing I can find is the Burnham "Pace-King", is that what you have?

    Gotcha

that is still a current product. But it's way oversized for your house.... I doubt it will ever run properly and efficiently due to short-cycling as you describe. I'd suggest replacing it with something properly sized. Maybe you could donate the K500 for a tax write-off?

    P404 Problem

As you know the P404 is out of range for a low pressure system And dropping it down as your should is low on its spectrum . You need to bring up the cut-in a tad , the calibration is off . Also clean the pig tail .
