Big boomers lately
These past few weeks have seen several homes demolished from gas leaks that went BOOM! A customer lost their business because a home two doors away exploded and moved their three-story brick building a half-foot, rendering it unsafe to use. Demolition crews had to take down five buildings!
So now that everyone in York is on pins and needles waiting for the next explosion, I came across the following set of instructions today that arrived with a gas-fired tankless water heater & I will quote directly. No doubt you too will want your techs to follow this guideline to a T! Looks like I can finally quit testing with a lit match(G).
"For your safety read before operating your water heater.
Warning: If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
This appliance is equipped with electronic ignition for lighting the pilot and main burners. When turning the heater on, follow these instructions exactly.
Smell all around the appliance area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air and will settle on the floor."0 -
HaHaHa,
that`s precious! If we`re stricken with a cold and the HO`s a "looker", we could always ask her to get down on all-fours too!! Who thinks these unbelievable rules up?

I will be holding....
....a company safety meeting first thing tomorrow to address this new procedure.
"Warning: If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. "

Silly
Dave,
That is silly. They did not even mention the ear plugs.
WARNING: Anyone sniffing with a head cold should wear ear protection, so when the building explodes and collapses on top of you, you will not have to hear yourself screaming as you die.

There's the reason for the explosions!
They forgot to tell about sniffing around the cieling area, while standing on two buckets, one on top of the other. Some gases are lighter than air you know. It is always safest to toss a lit match down the basement stairs before entering.0 -
you making this up?

That's funny,
Weez. We all know Dave is a Non-fiction writer.
Last heard he was doing a chapter for a new book each time he was sitting in an AHJ's office waiting to take out a permit.
:-))

you can't
make this stuff up! It's too weird.
Hah! You could write War & Peace while waiting for a permit round these parts(G). You'll get a kick out of this month's column in CM. It's about Hector the Inspector.
Off to be on TV with our Mayor in a few minutes. He has a local TV show called Focus on York and asked to shoot a segment on York Central Market. Supposed to be shot outside and it's snowing/raining - should be fun!0 -
They Did Not.....
......mention switching to OIL ?
Being a oil guy I had to throw it in0
