One more question about tying in a reducing tee off the main.

What do you guys usually do for installing a new tee off an old steam main? Would you cut the main and proceed to use a close nipple, union, and a tee after threading the main? I would think it very difficult to thread an older 2" main, no?

HOW about drilling & weding on a boss. [thread-o-let.] you can thread the pipe with no problem. easy if you own a ridgid 700 & know how to use it.0
