Boiling Kettle?

A few weeks back some guys helped me out with my boiler cycling, and a leaking valve.
I fixed the valve with no problem, but now that one radiator (single-pipe, steam) sounds like it's boiling while the system is getting to the set temp.
I pitched it about 1/4" off the floor, and that stopped the boiling noise, but now the main pipe from the basement has a crazy vibration. Both are pretty annoying, as it's the bedroom radiator. So i removed some of the pitch, and now the boiling is back. Also, my pressure gauge never used to move, but now it goes from 0 to 3psi, and the system shuts down until it relaxes to .5 psi - which is what my cut-in is set to. This only seemed to happen once i tightened that packing nut.
Attached is a bad diagram of the pipe system.

    chk pitch

Check the pitch on your basement steam mains are your mains insulated if not insulate .As for rad pitch you need for the rad to be pitched it seems that when you pitched the rad it might have effected the main s pitch .Check the hangers on your steam main also check to see if the floor where the raditor is is groved wherethe legs sit .If so fill them with putty or use a rubber funrture pad for legs of funture in it's place .If the promblem still occurs it may all and probably is just from age and settling of the building call a pro from the listing on the left you may need a little piping change to take the stress off the main when the rad is pitched and to also check the support system of your mains if abstoces was removed have pipes insulated and re hung with proper pitch peace and good luck clammy
