In all fairness I think it would be best that you have someone come out and access your needs.
It appears you may end up with code issues such as clearances and combustion air.

Levittown Burner Recommendations
The time has come to replace my 30+ year old oil burner. Looking for some helpful recommendations on a replacement. Also looking for some input on this old rust bucket, it was installed by Meenan Oil many moons ago and has a V & E label on the front side. I have been told this unit has caused several house fires through the rear of the burner and the company was forced out of business years ago.
Regarding my next burner, I have opened the rear wall (No more climbing through the mouse hole for access)and looking for something without a hinged opening as the space is limited. Any recommendation would be appreciated.
I attached 2 pics of the old unit.0 -
Mike the things a wreck.
there is nothing there to salage with a new burner. if it has to go down in the "Hole" a small le with a riello or maybe Quietside oil boiler.
i would also lose the tank, wiring, stack. clean the stack.right now its burning way hot and really you are lucky it didnt burn through the front of the fire box. that black soot around the front says it isnt "Breathing'right and is costing you lots of dollars to operate. there is a riello called a BF...that would be my choise.a hinged opening on the le is a bit of a drawback,as the turbulators need a twist every so often. LE's they are a hassel to get open if there isnt enough room to remove the front.0 -
The smallest
oil boiler I've seen is Toyotomi OM-180. Gloogle search for it. Also checkout System2000 and Laars MAX are very small steel boilers.0 -
The Toyotomi boiler is 148,000 btu/hr, which may be too big for many people. Also, Toyotomi parts are relatively expensive. I have an OM-148....0 -
yeah, he needs a pro in there and a heat loss calculation.0 -
re do
As others have stated that thing is a train wreak .Do yourself a favor gat a true pro in there use the service to the left 'find a pro ' You could do a nice buderus g115 with a stackable LT indirecrt tank under nieth and use 2 circulators one heat 1 domestics maybe with a domestics priority and do some zone valve for each zone also looks like you may have some no combustion air thing happening .Also while your at it at time of boiler removal and the rest of that junk being tossed get a chimmey guy to clean and check your chimmey it would be well advised and before they toss and furnace cement the new flue in how about having them install the proper sized clay thimble into the chimmey there cheap and it puts a end to 10 pounds of furnace cement on the side of the chimmey after the yearly cleaning .Big pluses to a buderus is 3 pass no combustion chamber ,baffles to adjust stack and one of the easist boiler to clean in this fools opion .From the looks of it your mech room there is gonna need a lot of TLC to get it all right and pretty and work top notch don't have a heart attack when you get estimates just make sure your getting it done right heatloss ect peace and good luckR.A.
