Vent-rite air valve- adjustable or not

Just trying to figure out a Vent-rite no.31 valve. The instructions say it can be adjusted by turning the button at the bottom of the base. There's no button on this valve, just a brass tab about an inch long sticking out of the threaded part. No way it can be used to adjust anything,it isn't long enough to reach any part of the inside,so what is the tab for? And can these valves be adjusted in any way? Thanks.

They probably put
the wrong instructions in the box.
The Vent-Rite #1 has a small knob on the bottom numbered 1-8. This can be used to adjust the vent. But Vent-Rite also makes non-adjustable vents like the #11. I haven't seen the #31 but if it doesn't have the knob with the numbers on it, it's not adjustable.

Thanks steamhead. What is the need for the short brass insert in the bottom of the valve. I assume if it is necessary, I should just bend it straight enough to allow assembly to the rad, right?0
