Could be her shoes or maybe she drags her feet when she walks?

Does she wear nylon? Nylon is very good at building and holding static electricity.

    Leather soles

Leather soled shoes seem to promote generating a static charge. Leather soles plus nylons plus the scuff walk equals super charged.

    Mister Bottle

Just get one of those big janitorial mister spray bottles and spray her with a water mist throughout the day! ;-)

She scooping up a lot more electrons than you or the other office girl. Electrons don't like to "stick" to rugs or things with a lot of surface area (hence the effect of rubbing your socks on carpets) so they easily come off by friction. Tile will not loose many electrons but a forced hot-air system in the environment plus here attire will cause her to be a prime host.
  • Hand her a

flouresecent ligth bulb, and if it glows, ask her "Watts up wit you??"

    SHOCKING personality...

it is the clothes she is wearing. *~/;)

the best thing a guy could do for her would be to talk her out of wearing them. Then the static will not be an issue.
  • could be related to...

the length of her car ride to work. If she lives farther away, her clothes are getting more time being heated by the dry heat coming from her car heater. My wife used to have a static cling problem at work, so she would spray her dress with Static Guard spray when she arrived at work in the winter.

    Got humidity?

dry winter air adds to the static electric occurances.

    Grounding Strap

Go to Radio Shack and buy a grounding strap, the kind used by computer techs. I would not have the potential this person carries near any electronics. Static electricity is short on amperage but can be thousands of volts.

EDIT: Bob mentioned this first, above, two days ago. Credit for the idea goes to Bob. I did not see that until just now.

what does this do Brad? How does it work?

amazingly she has the most computer 'issues' out of the three of us as well.

Sorry, I should have elaborated. The grounding strap

goes around her wrist. It is a copper wire or matrix with a Velcro outer band. A lead wire, usually with an alligator clip at the end, connects to a grounding source such as the chassis of steel furniture.

The intent is to dissipate spare electrons (and it looks like she could spare some), to ground. Reduces the potential much as static dissipators on aircraft do. (Aircraft dissipators are those little rubber tubes seen on trailing edges of some aircraft wings.)

Here is a URL for you.

    Ground straps

They also make style killing grounding straps that go inside and around shoes. Primarily these are intended for use in environments where the flooring is static dissapative such as waxed flooring.

    Realistic actions are as follows:
1)Don't wear any wool articles of clothing. Minimize the wearing of nylon materials.
2)Increase the Humidity in the environment. Add broad leaf plants.
3)If she gets shocked while in a rolling chair, change the seat covering to a non plastic material. Add a small length of metal chain to drain the static charge from her chair frame to the floor.
4)VERIFY the electrical ground of the outlets connected to her desk is actually connected to the building frame. Bond the metal frame of her desk to the building frame. If she is using a metal cased outlet strip, bolt the outlet strip to the desk.
5)Periodically touch the metal part of the computer case or monitor to drain the charge from her.
