Modine on a 1 pipe steam system ?

to heat part of a warehouse / showroom . The place has a liitle of everything - warm air , hot water heat and steam .

The room in question had a few steam rads that were removed and capped . For some reason the customer does not want rads . I'm guessing they need the wall space ( I haven't seen the place yet ) .

One option is a hanging modine driven by steam . There is a 1 1/2 inch steam riser very close to where we can hang the unit . The caveat is no real easy way to run a separate return pipe if needed .

Anyone have any luck using a Modine with 1 pipe steam ? Any piping ideas you can share ? Thanks in advance .

You need a return from the UH

but it doesn't have to go back to the wet return. Somewhere I have a piping diagram of this hookup- I'll see if I can find it.

I know it's in one of Dan's books with a radiator. If the pipe is large enough for the unit heater it should work as well. Drop the return low and make a loop seal and then connect it to the riser.

Before I could check in with you gents , they sprung the job on us . We lucked out big time with a wet return in the basement that was real close . We used an F and T trap and the Modine worked flawlessly . Actually it worked too good . We'll probably be back to throw a thermostat on the unit .

    Thanks again guys .
