another Riello question

I was wondering about that. Now all I have to do is convince people to stay with Riello over the air shutter conversion.

Dave

another Riello question
I had the local service guy service this 3 year old Riello burner in a Buderus boiler. From my reading, I do not understand the startup. It seems about 1/2 the time when the burner starts the flame starts immediately and the other 1/2 of the timethe flame starts after 20-25 seconds. From my understanding it should always take 10 seconds for the pre-purge then the flame should start.0 -
Your understanding is correct.
What color is the primary control, a dark gray color or a lighter kind of beige?

riello primary
hi Norm, i was asked that same question by a boiler oem and they claimed the lighter color controll has had problems,,, that makes me wonder, the last to riello;s i put on were not the " normal" grey controll????0 -
Thats wat I have experienced. The lighter color controls were replaced by the dark gray. My assumption is in the lighter color primary the delay valve timing was on a heat mechanism, where as the darker gray is on an eletronic delay.
I haven't had any problems with no prepurge on the newer, darker gray controls.

Riello 40-F3/F5 primary control
There is a relatively new version of the control that provides a more generous interval for flame check after the oil valve opens ... something like 3 seconds now, compared with less than a second for the older units. While this is more forgiving and can prevent some lockouts, it can also result in larger delayed ignitions and marginal operation if allowed to happen repeatedly. This is still far superior to the loooong flame check periods (15-45 seconds) allowed by other makes.
10 second pre-purge seems to be the norm for these controls.0 -

It's the reverse for us
We just recently started seeing the lighter white controls on the Riello burners ( new installs ) . All the years before that it was the darker grey version . I hope there's no problems with these controls down the road - we're installiong them at a steady clip .0 -
Riello control box
There have only been TWO versions of the Riello control.
The early model 483. Pre purge was controlled by a bi-metal heater. The newer control, 530SE uses an electronic timer to control pre-purge time. Pre-purge appx 10sec trial for ignition is 5 sec. Ignition shuts off when the cad cell see the flame. Appx 1 sec if all is good. There are no new controls with more liberal timings. As far as I know the color of the cover has nothing to do with the version of the control. Thanks jsacco@rbna.com0
