main vents

in THE MAIN WALL
One of my mains does a T. To vent the main properly, the left side of the T needs one Gorton # 2 and the right side needs a # 1 and a #2. The problem is that the right side has a place for a vent manifold, but the left side does not and would have to be drilled.

Here's my question. If I put all three vents on the right side, won't this actually work? Won't the air in the un-vented left side simply be displaced by the steam toward the vents on the vented right side?

    Bill in a nutshell NO. IF the left main needs a #2 gorton that tells me it contains a large amount of air.With no vent on that branch you are asking the connected radiator vents to expel the air. That is no good,it will unbalance and slow your heating on the left side.Tapping a vent on that main is fairly straight forth if you have the proper tools. If not have a "PRO" do the install, he can do it in no time.
