Tomorrow evening around 6:00 PM I’ll be boarding a plane, destination, Frankfurt Germany. This is something I have wanted to do for years. I must thank Dan and Marianne Holohan, Bob Boltz, Judy Garber and so many of you here. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It’s all of you that have made this journey and chapter in my life possible.

I can’t even begin to imagine how much there will be to see and learn. I do know the memories that will be made will be cherished forever.

I’ll bring back as much information and pictures as I possibly can. I’ll share some stories with you of all the technology we here so much about and no doubt we will have here some day (soon I hope) I’ll even share and adventure or two I suspect there will be many.

For anyone that may try to contact me through e-mail while I’m away Please bare with me as I will not have my laptop with me. Once I return I’ll try to address all e-mails as quickly as possible.

By the way the stein at the top of this letter is actually my first memory of this trip. A friend and fellow technician who will be looking after the Oil Tech Talk museum while I’m away gave it to me as a gift he thought it would be cool for me to have it as I said above as my first memory of Germany before I even leave. Thank you, Jack Buck for the wonderful gift and especially for your friendship.

Suggestion to long distance travelers...

First off, make a trip to the local health food store and purchase a material called No Jet Lag. Follow the instruction on it to a T. Also, don't sleep on your way there, and get onto their schedule as soon as you get off the plane.

On the way back, short cat naps only.

My first trip to German in 99, I didn't do any of this, and I payed for it. It took me a WEEK to get reacquainted with my time zone. The last trip I took this fall, I took the NJL and I didn't miss one day.

Enjoy your trip, keep an open mind, eyes and ears and you will come back a different man.

Enjoy!And remember this, the whole shebang is mispelled. It should be WISH... You understand when you come home.
