radiant heat installed on top of basement floor

If space is an issue we have used Roth panel system glued to the slab. It provides some insulation to the existing slab and the 3/8" system only adds 3/4" height rise.

Radiant over existing concrete?
I've done plenty of radiant work thru the years, but never on top of an existing basemt. floor.I'm looking for the most cost effective yet reliable method. Basemt. approx. 1400sq ft. I'm looking for tested true ideas. Thanks0 -
3 inches
I seen a 4 car garage that they just repoured 3" of cement{they used cement with 1b stone and a thin layer of doulble bubble insulation} over the old floor and just raised the doors0 -
I fell upon the same situation in western MA. A basement remodel where existing floor was a slab. New floor was to be acid washed concrete. I shot my tubing in with plastic clips, 3/8" tubing, Hilti nail gun. Piping was 6"-12" on center. They poured 11/2" directly over pipes. Has worked like a charm so far. Been 6 years.

I can feel the heat coming
Wow 3 posts for me tonight gotta be a record.Probably have the strangest set up for radiant heat known. I built my basement with a simialar set up as your talking about above.1400 square feet with a 4 inch slab. Radiant heat barrier, bubble foil bubble, wire mesh with tubing tied to mesh and 3 more inches on top. Works great. Yes I seek forgiveness on the choice of insulation.0 -
Radiant
Roth Industries has a great system in Roth Radiant Panel System...It is an insulation panel with metal heat emmission plate built in and it glues right down to the concrete with liquid nail or construction stlye bond...
We will do the proper sizing and layout and are willing to help anyone...Alos Roth Industries now has a Duo Pex tubing that has the O2 barrier burried in-between the outer and inner layer of pex...It is a great new take on radiant tubing and I think all on the Wall should take a look...If need be please e-mail me and I will forward you any and all information...0
