    need help

    Guys,
    I'm new to steam heat.
Is their a problem with curtains touching the radiator?
Most say that it wont get hot enough for a problem.

If everything's working right then you're fine...

If you've got spitting air vents you might have a problem with staining... other than that I can't think of a problem.

    This is from the Library

    Fire from Steam Pipes

It pays to wander off the Wall.

  • Great article Dan

and I should venture off the "Wall" more than I do! I wonder if those old steam train "firemen" ever caught on fire? LOL.

  • If you

stitch em to the floor, they can't catch on fire(G).

You need 450 deg F to burn paper, so at the low boiler pressures you have, it will not get much hotter than 212, the boiling point at atmospheric.Drapes and curtains would need temps much greater than 450 to burn.
