Gas Usage (so far)

Need to thank all of you "pros" on the Wall. Without your collective knowledge I would still be wasting energy.

Since I repiped my boiler last summer, following the manufacturer's specifications, getting rid of the copper and adding a header I questioned how much actual savings I would see. I mean - how much could a "properly" piped boiler save???

We have been on a budget with Bay State Gas since September of 2004 and our monthly payment has always been $145 per month. All due to repiping the boiler??? Unbelievable!!

I just received a notice that our budgeted amount is being dropped to $108 per month - $37 per month - a $444 savings for the year!!!

I'm a believer!!! Gee - how much more can we save when I install the vaporstat this summer!!!

Thanks to all,

Dave

    know the feeling

I replaced my old beast of a furnace with a new properly sized (per heat loss) high eff, and my budget dropped from 151.00 to 81.00. (ripped out a 140k and put in a 60k)

I am working on replacing it again and selling the old one used as it is only 2 years old, because this year we had -30 (WAY beyond the design temp), and I still ran only 60% of the time, telling me I am STILL oversized.

Cant wait..( and I use NG for dryer, hwh, and BBQ

    Sounds like great news

But i dont think Batstate gas will like it,i have run into a lot of there handy work in west springfield.
i had a guy call me and said that baysyate told he had to have a new boiler cause his was leaking, and that the crew was on the way over, i got there before them and found the tankless plate was dry rotted and so i replaced it , baystates guys were not very happy ;-)

Bay State can go to H***

    LOL

Dave - YOU are the one I should have called to repipe my boiler!!! I'm STILL sore!!! Getting too old to play these games!!

Yes - I have had to deal with them several times over the years.

A couple of years ago I was performing my seasonal maintenance and couldn't get the boiler to fire. It would "die" right after the main gas would open. I finally determined that I wasn't getting enough volume of gas because my pressure gauge would drop to zero.
It was fun trying to explain to the lady that I knew what I was talking about. The first tech that came I threw out - he said I didn't know what I was talking about - he was going to replace the ignition module.
Finally another crew showed up and they understood what I was saying. My pipe was partially blocked. I never seen a gas line roto-rootered before.

I'm tracking degree days very carefully and have a spreadsheet on my fuel usage - compairing to last year.
Vaporstat will be replaced in summer because I wanted to track the improvements I made step by step.
