TRANE Heat Pump

but the expansion valves losing the charge on their power/sensing element has nothing to do with the install. If we were clogging the drier in front of the valve mayby then, but the sensing bulb losing it's charge is out of our control. WW

I had a friend tell me last week

that he has been having a run of bad expansion valves on TRANE heat pumps, especially with the 410a refrigerant units. Yesterday I had one 1.5 years old with a bad expansion valve on an R-22 outside unit. What's going on? Is anyone else seeing this happen? Up until now I have had no problems with their equipment. WW

    TXV's

    I've seen more bad txv's this year . Sporlan 7.5 ton R-22 ( new from Aireco ), McQuay 3 ton 410A wshp , York 3 ton residential , ATS 1.5 ton wshp..and a few others. I haven't seen this many in 20 years combined. Se' Senior'...I guess.

    TXV

Not knowing where they are made, but I'll bet they are imported. Lucky guess? Quantity (money), not quality.

    Wayne,

We dont do a ton of heat pumps, though we're starting to do more here in NE.

The Trane/Amer.st. units I have done, I have had problems with the txv's. Last year we lost 3 compressors also. All r-22. Somethings up.

    Thanks for your input

I had an opportunity to sell a HP system yesterday but put it off because I don't want to install a problem. I will be on the phone with my reps today. WW

    bad expan valve

i took my instructors words to heart nothing will mess up a perfictly good unit than a bad or sloppy install. package units solve that problem but on a split unit you have to be relitively good to prevent problems.
