    heat loss calcs?

i want to do my own heat/cool loss calculations for a new house. can anyone tell me [a] where i can find a program that will run on mac osx or [b] how to do it manually? ive seen manual j mentioned several times & ive also read over several of downloads available for pc aps, and i think i could do it manually if i knew how to combine/convert the r-value on my components and the max delta t indoors to outdoors into a btu value. or maybe not. thanks for any help. frank

I like the slant fin program that is free. Click on heat loss calcs in the top banner. not sure if it is mac as well, but I thought macs could do anything & everything??? :)

Love the handle. If you have a junior college in your area that offers courses in hvac go to their library and look for books under ASHRAE or ARI or SMACNA. You should find all kinds of stuff.

mitch- this site is very informative on ac systems and costs, but once again only a pc or mac with virtual pc program -tried virtual pc before and sent it back. lots of different hvac sites seem to link back to heatload.com for their heat loss calcs. frank
