Riello burner question

I found the same thing when I was servicing them. If I pushed in the reset button, waited a few seconds, and then let go, sometimes it would fire immediately. If I pushed in the reset and rapped on the top of the control, when I let go it would always pre purge. Not sure why. If your burner is doing that, maybe it's short cycling and the control doesn't have time to recycle itself.

    Riello burner question

I have a Riello burner on a Buderus boiler and most of the time when the burner starts it takes 20 seconds of running before I hear the flame. Once and awhile I hear the flame immediately. The oil burner tech half explained it that when it first starts, the pump goes on pumping up the oil pressure and then it opens up and the oil flows and the flame starts. So if this is true it explains it somewhat. What causes the flame to come on immediately sometimes?

    Riello pre purge

Most Riello burners have a ten second pre-purge. This allows for the pump to be at full RPMs as well as air movement before the oil is ignited. Perhaps the burner is not completing its ignition cycle and continues to try to start the ignition cycle again. It is suggested to have the technician check out the burner and contact us or Riello if there are any questions.

    Hmmm

What model burner is it? The burner shouldn't be lighting up until the prepurge cycle is done, which is typically about 10 seconds on an F series unit. Make sure this is what is actually happening and then call your burner technician or Buderus about it.
