oil fired modcon?

No such thing (at least in the US) as an oil-fired modcon.
The Monitor and Peerless you mentioned can recover heat from condensation but they cannot vary (modulate) their firing rate.
It has been mentioned numerous times here that the Monitor oil-fired condensing boiler requires low-sulphur fuel that at least until recently was not readily available here. The Peerless mentions that "standard commercial grade #2 fuel oil". This [may] be the "new" low-sulphur oil--I'm not sure. Before considering either, I'd verify fuel requirements and availability.

still have not decided
What route I am going when I replace my Crown CT35 and power vent combo. Tonight I started looking at the oil fired modcons. For the money I am going to have in a complete system replacement, I might just go all the way and switch to a modcon direct vent and get it over with.
Here is the specs on my house and current heating system.
roughly 3000 sq ft total of living space with the upstairs 1500 ft heated with a hot water coil in the air handler with 180 degree water temps. Heat loss upstairs is 49000 In the future this will most likely change to hot water baseboard or in floor radiant.......
Down stairs is a 1500 sq ft in slab radiant with 5 loops of 1/2 in pex 300ft long and inlet water temps are 100-110 degrees.
Heat loss downstairs cant be much more the 30-35000 if that. Its very well isulated as I can keep it comfortable with 70 degree floor temps.
Now the questions....
Am I a good canidate for a modcon?
Any issues with the oil fired modcons?
Looked at the Monitor and Peerless, what are the best designs?
Would it be a good setup to do constant circulation for the radiant floor? As mentioned in earlier posts I want to do that with the floor downstairs as well as go with outdoor reset.
And finally whats the added cost of a modcon vs a conventional boiler? I seem to remaber a post that it was like $1500 or so more but not sure.
Thanks as always!
