Tax Credits

Two months go by quickly.
I however was looking at tax form 5695 for the energy efficiency credits. I must say they are pathetic. $150 for a 95% eff boiler. $500 max if you made other improvements like windows and insulation.
At least $2000 for solar water heaters. I think I may get one this year. I'll install it on my home, to get the credit, and then I'll write the rest off as a adverstisement for the biz, since I'll show it to potential clients. HeHeHe!!! I hope the tax man does not visit the wall ;-)
But serious, how can $150-$500 provide any incentive for homeowners, heck I remember they were giving $75 for the low flush toilets in the '90's that at least was half the cost of a toilet.

Try it
in Canada, they all talk a "good game" on TV, but when it comes right down to-it, ya right! Governments are Governments! Do you guys have a "consumption tax" or GST?, myself and the bookeepers just love that-one. -NOT-

Have to watch them like a Hawk
In 2005, The Fed tax credit was $600 for heating appliances over 90% eff >> it was a $600 credit>> had to be bought [not installed] by March 31,2006>> got mine on the 29th Yea, me0 -
It is pathetic
in Canada. Our gov'ts talk a great game but then offer little in any real tax incentives re high efficiencies or solar. Programs have been axed since the new gov't. There are some rebate programs or "giveaways" from the manufacturers (which the installer gets to "buy" at a reduced rate). And yet they have the gall to suggest they are somehow "green". It just ain't so! In BC - solar is PST exempt; and only on select commercial solar projects (preapproved! - can you imagine the paperwork!)is there a percentage rebate. To make matters worse - our dear government just announced two coal fired elect plants - but did not specify any new technologies to make them cleaner. Do not be fooled - our politicians are bugling out of both ends at the same time. FACT!0
