Watts CD "Radiant Sampler" or go to the Watts class and get the CD with all the really cool stuff on it and then rip it and include it in you own production?

    We just finished...

a 4-day Home & Garden Show. It really generated some "Quality Leads" and I'm optimistic about the number of signed contracts it will generate. Typically, with the seed planted in the HO's mind, I might not "reap the harvest" of a signed contract for a year or more, but I have done my job.

Tons of inquiries about electric radiant infloor for small scale remodels. If you are not in this market, it is a growing niche that electricians and tile-setters would be more than happy to keep you out of.

We happened to be located across from a "THX- Digital Theatre" company displaying their wares. It was professionally done and they had permission to "Sell" in their booth.

They were selling a $20.00 DVD called "Animusic" that was extraordinary for getting the concept of high-resolution picture and quality sound.

The show ran Thursday and Friday night from 5pm-8pm, Saturday from 10am to 8pm, and Sunday 10am to 5pm. Sunday morning I was chatting with them prior to the show starting and they had already sold $900.00 worth of DVD's. I know this was not pure profit but those sales were certainly paying back the costs of the show itself. (Their booth was $1700.00) These numbers staggered me a bit in that this wasn't even counting what they sold on Sunday.

Being a radiant floor heat company, does anyone have any suggestions about what I could sell (in that price range) for next years show? I would like it to be radiant related if only to keep it fresh in the consumers mind. I was thinking of a carbon-manoxide detector, but in that price range I would question quality. I was also thinking of a small-scale "Stirling Engine" but haven't researched it further.

Any other ideas or success stories?

    Regards,

    PR

Perhaps... cheap or free T shirts that would have cartoon characters enjoying the feel of radiant heat on the front, and your company logo on the back. Kids at the show would enjoy getting something there that appeals to them, and adults would see the reminder each time they wore the shirts later?

    Would these violate copyrights???:

    Penguins with actual "Happy Feet"

Jungle Book characters extoling the "Bare Necessities"

Cinderella proclaiming "Slippers? I don't need no stinking slippers!"
  • How would we compete

with Animusic? Somehow heating isn't quite as visual. Maybe listening to and watching Animusic in a radiantly heated chair on a radiant floor..... ;-)

BTW, they are both good, but the second Animusic DVD is the better of the two. Hewlett-Packard had commissioned the
Animusic people to do one of their animations for use at the launch of HP's digital projectors. The result was "Cathedral Pictures" which is their best work to date IMHO and appears on the second DVD. I'm not surprised the THX people were playing Animusic DVDs.
