Radiant floor

I'm running into conflicting information regarding the placement of radiant tubing in floors. Should it be run under cabinets such as the kitchen? What about baths, under shower, toilet, and tub? Wirsbo shows piping regardless of floor lay out, John Siegenthaller, P.E. in his hydronics manual says no. What is everyone doing?

    Kitchens and Baths

In kitchens I avoid layouts under fixed cabinets except sink units on outside walls. If you run tubing willy-nilly under all cabinets, potatoes and onions will have an extended growing season plus it is not helping the room directly.

Bathrooms- I leave at least a foot around the toilet if it has a wax ring seal. I had one go on me once... The neoprene ring types I suppose are OK but have no first-hand experience.

Under showers and tubs? I put a couple of victory laps around my tub when I finished up my bath. Not that it makes a huge difference without good contact but what a radiator if you did! Clawfoot tubs I would definitely put tubing under those. Showers? I suppose I would tube under those too, why not?

Bedrooms not that you asked, I do them all allowing that most furniture is moveable. Avoid built-ins and closets as too much heat can wear on clothing in some way, I was once told.

i have some ideas on that subject *~.:)

    1. Be careful around toilet wax rings

    2. go "easy" on emitters in pantry.

    3. if you have outside walls and fixtures on the perimeter interior wall, protect the water and drainage piping with a bit of emitter tubing..

    4. If you have outside baths or showers go heavy on the emitters or get some into the walls or ceiling...

    5. put some tubing In Front of the throne where people place their feet...and along side the tub or shower where someone is likely to step....

if you are Really Really into growing Potatoes and veggies under the cabinets ,..by all means:) be my guest:) hey! its Your home..what do i know? :)

i also tend to load up arctic entrance ways as people tend to want to be warm right away AND taking off ones Muck Lucks takes Time *~/:)

Thanks for the feedback. I am authoring a generic application manual for our company and all input is appreciated.
