well i wrecked the company truck!!!

i have wrecked a 1996 chevy caprice wagon -in the snow -(that was an awesome service vehicle) going around a corner uphill blind turn directly after the crest of the hill --oncoming car i had to swerve lost the rear end -hit him in the rear and spun into a ditch --then a 1999 van chevy going down a long steephill in the snow the person in front of me decided to stop and make a left without signaling and the brake lights were out -- hit the brakes --emergency brake, dropped the tranny into L1 tryed to swerve but nowhere to go --did some good damage to her -----so for the past 2 year --New policy --when it snows we don't go --until the following day ------so yesterday i was off--took my 94 jetta --drove about 80 miles in total -backroads,highway etc... -went to my friends garage and started up the dirtbike --NOW that was fun i went through a ful tank of gas -CR250 talk about drifting OOOh how much i love driving in the snow -

well i wrecked the company truck

while driving home tonight after work in the mountains of colorado i braked to avoid an oncoming vehicle in my lane and began to slide. despite my valiant efforts i ended up tearing into a rock wall on the side of the road. my ford F-350 king cab definitely lost the battle. i'm just curious as to how often this happens to those individuals who have deal with the pain in the #ss mountain driving conditions. What is funny is that within ten minutes of my wrecking the "beast" as I like to call it, two other vehicles found themselves in the same predicament no more than 25' from me. I can't help but feel bad for I know that regardless of insurance my employer will still be forking out some dough. I did not recieve a ticket from the police so i'm just wondering if it is completely necessary for me to keep beating myself up about it. Thanks to everyone.

    Curbed it today too

but no damage thank goodness. But no mountain either-- just a teenager in an SUV in front of me having fun breaking the rear end loose in the snow. Then he lost it and wound up facing me. Nice.

"i braked to avoid an oncoming vehicle in my lane" This should end any discussion of fault. Head on collisions are far worse for everybody involved. And the van still gets wrecked. Yours was the best choice. Try to rest easy. Everyone's alive.

    watch what you admit to

Even if you were at fault, never admit it on the Internet. Could come back to bite you.

    It's just

part of the job. Don't be too hard on yourself. I ran service in the mountains for ten years, about 400,000 miles of windshield time. Totaled two vans on highway 82. One in phillips curves and another right in front of Aspen airport. Trucks are replaceable. bob

    wrecked

Its not that bad, any employer has to understand that with trucks on the road in all weather conditions things will happen.

A few years ago I was driving in bumper to bumper trafic one of my other trucks was 3 or 4 cars back he rearended the car in front of him hard totaled the truck and the car he hit as well as damage to the car infront of that one. They called me I turned around asked everyone if they where OK thank god they where. Then I asked my guy how did you hit this car that hard we havent goten over 10mph in 30 min. He then replied that it was time for him to pray so he decided to close his eyes and pray. So I told him he better pray I dont fire him and at the end of the week I did. This is a true story no BS. I didnt fire him because of the accident I fired him for being too dumb to pull over before he closed his eyes to pray. He even told the police officer that it was in the report.
