  • Why not consider...

4 399 mod cons would probably fit into the same space (stacked) as the million btuH fire breathing dragon. 4 units cascaded would give you a 20:1 turn down ratio...

    Dang near infinite:-)

    Or

    Hydrotherm KN-6's, KN-10's

Buderus, Viessmann, Cleaver-Brooks... they all make boilers in that size range. When you say "modular" I take it you mean multiple boilers, not that they have to align in a monolithic block.

  • And...

What makes you so sure you need to replace the EXACT btu's on site? If the boiler has been doing DHW through a side arm heat exchanger, chances are you can CONSIDERABLY down size the heat source, provided you can add some storage to the DHW mix.

For example, it is not uncommon for us to eliminate a 1,500,000 btuH boiler with a side arm, and replace it with two 300K boilers and 160 gallons of DHW capacity.

As a matter of fact, we wil be perfoming that exact feat this Tuesday... All hands on deck!

Suggest a heat loss calc be done on the skin of the building, followed up with a sample room by room audit of emmiter versus load, and proper sizing done on the DHW load. I think you will be suprised by the results....

    And talk about fuel savings...
