    Soon available

Time for the family to rally together. I am a fairly competent comfort technician with 17 years of experience. I have just left a ten year employment with a major manufacturer. As I live in the Fraser Valley I would consider opportunities here first, but interesting and appropriate situations from other areas will of course be considered. You can PM or pool your suggestions on the board. I have the moderator's permission to grovel publicly. Sincerely, Fred.
Oh, and yes, references are available. I'll even give you the negative ones.

and please don't show negative references!

homeowner here. I'd assume you ran out of good ones and had to use the bad ones. You're cutting your own legs. And yes, don't use 'fairly'. Nice to be earnest and honest; if only all the bad contractors out there were forced to aptly name themselves e.g. 'barely competent knucklehead' etc.

Sounds like you could use Dan's book on hydronic marketing. But I wish you the best,

    selling

I agree. I would only say positive things when selling anything, but especially when selling myself. We all have weaknesses, but job interviews are all about selling your strengths. Better than saying "fairly good" or showing negative references, mention those areas where you are very skilled and mention that you also have skills in the areas where you are less skilled.

But, to be fair, I have a certain kind of respect for someone who will admit he is not perfect. It seems that is rare these days.

Which Fraser Valley? Are you talking BC? If so and are willing to come south to your neighbor respond and lets talk!

    employment

As someone who has been on both sides of the employment table I wish you all the best.

Be open and honest about your abilities, stress the positives, including being open to expanding your knowledge.

What are the attributes you are most proud of?
Where would you like to see yourself in the next 2 years?
What type of outfit would suite your personality& strengths?

    Good Luck,
    Keith

Fred is the modest sort -

and is a darn fine gas/oil tech that will be a great catch for anyone in the radiant/boiler business. He and I have worked on many projects in the last few years - and along with Bernd Giese was one of my early mentors with the VSB boiler and controls. Suitable work should not be hard to find with his instinctive diagnostic skills and strong customer service background. Good luck with the job search Fred.

    I'll Say!!

This man is one of the best I've ever worked with. His skillset and diagnostic abilities are 5 stars. He's the kind of guy who can walk you through complex diagnostics over the phone. There's never been a phone call that wasn't returned within minutes when in need... a man of exceptional character and integrity.

    search so far

Has failed to turn up any leads, nevermind offers. After ten years of service to one employer it is a little daunting to stare dazedly across the employment field. Guys the problem in staying with a single employer for so long is that ones worldview becomes extremely focused.
On the otherhand, the little fledgelings would never really learn to fly if they weren't pushed out of the nest, right?
