the best way is to isolate all other zones and shut the return side of the upstairs zone off so return boiler water dose not come up to your purge drain. then hook a hose up on the return then you will bring up pressure to 30 psi then open the drain and wile holding the hose in your hand keep filling keeping the pressure at 30psi as the water leaves the hose.
keep doing it till you feel hot water coming out if your boiler is up to temp. kink the hose to stop the flow so you can shut the drain.
then keep the drain open and stop the fill. close the drain when you get back down to normal pressure

You might want to search this site,
Not to be too sarcastic you want to run the water fast enough to carry the air with it, out of your pipes, and down the drain. Your boiler is probably different than everyone elses, this makes giving advice very difficult. A picture is almost manditory item to go on. How about calling your plumber? Or are there any air vents on the second floor?0 -
this is why i like ball valves everywhere on a boiler. when i say put the hose on the return i mean put it on the return of the zone your purging making sure there is a shut off valve under the purge so return water from the boiler dose not come back up from the boiler.
you want to push the water into the supply and out the return fast and at high pressure. so make sure all other zones are closed off.
good luck.
