orifice plates
Anyone know where one can buy blank orifice plates? Thanks!

I believe Tunstall
has them- at least real orifice plates for steam and probably gravity HW... maybe they can sell you some blanks?
Or if your needs differ, a spot of brazing and a re-drill? Just a thought.

I have...
made my own in the past from copper dwv test caps. They are made from very thin copper sheet and can easily be cut to size and drilled.
Just a thought,

Thanks Jim
that`s a great idea, next time I will remember that! BTW- How do you figure the right hole size?

Well Dave...
i'm sure there is a way to determine orifice size as to the EDR of the radiator, but the couple of times I did it I just used trial and error.
Using some orifice drills, I started small and worked up until I got the rad hot most of the way across. Didn't take much.
Good luck,

Tunstall
Truly sorry you had a bad time with Tunstall. So far, they have treated us very well. Their products are good and they ship fast. They will custom make rebuild parts for obsolete steam stuff. I will call them about orifice plates, but I suspect that since they are in the business of selling traps, they may not sell orifices. They don't seem to list them in their catalog.
