Design Only Service for Hot Water Radiator System?

Hello

Can someone recommend a service that can do the design portion of a hot water radiator system for my small home? Radiator sizing, boiler sizing and a detailed supply list along with precise plans is all I would need. I have received two stratospheric bids for the design and supplies (boiler, radiators, etc) of a system. These are from internet companies. While I feel they are not attempting a rip off I do feel they are trying to sell the most expensive complicated system and are taking advantage of my unfamiliarity with this type of heating. I have considerable construction experience so while I do not completely understand the exact details of the boiler to radiator plumbing hookup I can conclude that the prices proposed are not necessary to do the job.

Thank You
Scott

    Why don't you involve a ...................

local company? "Precise plans" are rare with replacement systems. Work with a local guy, that may let you do some of it. You also said "taking advantage of my unfamiliarity with this type of heating" You really need a pro's help, and I bet it will work better from someone who understands the local conditions. Did you check "Find a pro" here?

It is actually going to be a new system in a home that used to have forced air which has been removed. I live in a relatively isolated community and there are no professionals that do this type of system, believe me I have looked. Forced air is king here. Find a professional had nothing for my area. I realize that many in this forum are pros but I would like to do the install myself.

Manufcturers of equipment are a great resource,.. decide what kind of equipment you want to install and contact them. The manufacturer should be able to refer you to someone, or help in the process themselves.

Whats the scope of your project?

    Designers and Engineers

Most single-family up to 3-family homes do not require a P.E. stamp but some jurisdictions may require it for their own liability.

Still, you may want to call any small engineering company in your area; they may be willing to take it on. Siggy (John Siegenthaler) at HydronicPros.com is a NY registered P.E. and offers design services with a stated minimum charge.

    Where are you located?

I do this kind of work but will decline it as I do not use this forum to solicit paying work. But there are folks out there.
