so are you saying do not combine an outdoor reset with a small boiler?
I am considering upgrading to a low mass, three pass boiler oil boiler, outdoor reset and an indirect. Buderus, Peerless are a few examples of the brands considered.
On many occassions on this site I have read mnay positive comments about outdoor resets.

outdoor rerset
first, is it possible to install an outdoor reset on a Weil Mclain CGi-3? If so, is it a wise addition? How do you decide location placement of the outdoor sensor for optimal operation? I mean it seems that trees, shade, excess sunshine, could adversely affect what is detected.0 -
I'm not huge with w/m, is this a basic gas unit? I stuggle with outdoor reset hooked up to small/medium mass boilers because they cycle like a dog in the mild heating days.
Has anyone ever used on-off t-stat during mild weather and flipped to outdoor reset in cold weather?
Just my 2 pennies

Reset Location
Mount the sensor on a North -West location and not above a window .0 -
So, is it a yes, or no?
I'm still wondering if an out-door reset is OK for a Weil Mc CGi-3, or not such a good idea? I have heard several friends say "yes," while a few others say "no."0 -
Sure
Tekmar 256 or Tekmar 260 (w/indirect DHW) for boiler temperature reset. If you have radiant floors or other low temperature loads, the Tekmar 356 or Tekmar 363 are good controls. If you have a combination of high and low temperature check the Tekmar 364
Boiler low limit should not be below 135-140°F to prevent flue gas condensation.0
