water level alarms

Hello
Just a short note on a disaster that spells out penny wise pound foolish in spades. One of the major schools has sustained over one million dollars damage because of a simple water level alarm. The school is monitored by Protelec and they are very good at what they do. It would seem, someone decided the cost of a remote water level alarm was too expensive. Quess what? The opinion so far is, the connection for the city water into the building was made up with mild steel threaded rod at the city school connection. After fifty years of burial it would seem something let go -- so to speak. The school is closed for the foreseeable future and the repairs are estimated to be in the one million dollar range. I will send some pictures when I have them to send. The amount of water in the school was to the extent: a gas driven ten inch pump, had to be used for water evacuation. Just to add insult to injury, it has been forty below zero here for the last week; who wants to play in the water at this temperature?
All the best for 2007 and if someone needs an alarm tell them; that is if they will listen.
