I thought these things would outlast me.

    Sinking BB14

Problem: BB14 sinking into boiler room floor.

Remedy: New Burnham V85 on two layers of block with a 3 inch underfloor foundation.

HB Smith BB14. The boiler you would never have to changeout. Built like a tank. Heavy as a Buick.

It seems that BB14s don't like to be used in a subterrainean environment, as this one rotted out its lower push nipples in an effort to communicate to us its need to be wrested from its improper installation. i tipped it over so Rodney could cut the lower draw rods, and instead of tipping it UP, it folded itself INTO the floor, not unlike a castro convertible mattress folds back into a couch.

The only BB14s I can remember changing, were on gas conversion jobs. I HATED installing them, as they were tall and very heavy, and were delivered as assembled blocks. These things were built for the long haul.

After proper disposal, the V85 and coil are producing plenty of hot water (this is a church), and ample QUIET heat.

    Megasteam?

Great looking job Al, looked like that old BB14 had certainly seen better days. Just curious, have you tried any of the Megasteamers yet. I see you use Burnham for steam. Are you waiting to see a few in the field before taking the leap of faith?

Real nice lookin job Al. I used to use the BB 14 on gravity hot water replacements with no pump they worked great.

That old one is listing to port. Looks like the sinking of the Titanic or the BISmark

Gotta get some out there first.

I love the idea, but the salesmen are having issues.

    Oh well.
