Draft Problem
15' hozontal run for a short cold outside chimney sounds like incorrect.Even if it is B vent. You need to check the book on this..You are allowed a amount of hozotal run per vertical rise with different types of chimneys. Also a limited amount btu apliance
Draft is produced by warm chimney ,plus the hight of the vertical run. Outside - Northside are the coldest and require a liner.0 -
draft
As per Big Ed, & be sure you have enough combustion/vent air for the unit. You may need to box/insulate the exterior part of the chimney to keep it warm.
It appears to me the b vent is too big, too cold for proper venting.0 -
Call Selkirk Co. They will send you a free flue sizing book. I would make sure you dont have a negative pressure in your boiler room. You may need to raise flue heighth do to long horizontal run. There was an error rendering this rich post.

several things
The horiz run is to long. If you exceed 1.5'run /inch diameter of vent connector you must use b-vent for the vent connector. Max allowable vent connector cannot exceed 75% of vert height. Sound like you are busted on that as it is a single story building. B-vent, while an insulated pipe is not good in exterior applications. It should be covered in an insulated enclosure to give best results. Even if you make the changes to the system you may well need a draft inducer. Fortunately, your draft switch is functioning perfectly.0 -
Killer boiler...
It may be in control for now...but if it (bi-metal roll out switch) fails (and they do) it will be dumping a LOT of products, deadly products that get even deadlier with time, directly into the room. If you can keep the boiler room warm, you've got half a chance of maintaining decent draft, but as I found out the hard way, cold slugging is a killer.
Make sure they have a good working CO detector near where they sleep.

draft issue
Thanks for the help. I realize the potential hazards if switch fails.Homeowner said he didnt have this prob with old boiler, but old one ,Im sure did not have spill switch.I will check the specs on monday. I am the 3rd or 4th tech to go out on the job for this problem. Time for more training for every one.0 -
a draft inducer may help
Sometimes installing a draft inducer is the easiest solution to this problem.
