since you're building you're own you want to put in the most efficient so go with a modulating condensing boiler that will also make hot water for you DONT mix your bathing water with heating water or you're asking for trouble imbed the tubing in the living area slab portion of the ranch and in the basement area if you want it there don't staple up under joists or even use emmission plates as youll have to figure on two temperatures go with a lightweight overpour so you can use the reset capability of the modcon for a single reset temp did I mention have a thorough heat loss done on the home modern modcons have domestic priority which will handle your domestic needs did I mention DONT mix your bathing water with your heating water I think you have a unique opportunity to install a system that will be cost effective and economical for years to come do your homework and youll be fine

Boilers
A good place to start is this site, not necessarily the wall. Also look up various boiler manufactors web sites and read all about their boilers. Do a good heat loss of your house. Prepare a budget and stick to it. Many, many different ways and means in the hydronic world. I too have a modular house with radiant heat in the basement and baseboard up stairs, all being fed with a mod-con. And an indirect for the potable hot water. Good luck.0 -
mod con
thanks for the advice are u happy with your mod con boiler and if u dont mind what brand did u put in i was thinking of getting a utica boiler mod con the 95% one u heard much about it ??is yours pretty cost effecient?0 -
Mod-Con's
I went with a Munchkin and their Super Store indirect. Yes I'm happy so far but will be making some small piping changes this coming spring. I get to see my set up 4 times a year. This system is in my vacation house. I done all work by myself except electrical.0
