This weekend I went to look at a down boiler that I installed 17 years ago. I probably should of sent him to the yellow pages, but hes now old and retired (I'm just old) and I thought I'd just take a look at it for him.
It a valliant, 100,000 in. its got a honeywell 586 e intermittant piolet. On a call for heat the piolet would light, no problem, but the main flame wouldnt. A little bit of wiggleing , tapping and a couple of choise words and she fired right up. An even 12 trys it failed once more.
Now he didnt have the papers from the boiler anymore. If I have anything on these controls, its buried upstaires in the barn in my "archives".
Can anyone tell me what the probale causes of this are? Could it be a simple as a dirty sensor or should I be looking at new controls.
He wants a ballpark on a hi efficent boiler, but hes got to save up for it.
Any ideas will be aprreciated.
thank you

I assume you mean
a Honeywell S86E module. I have a procedure for checking that system out if you e-mail me I will send it to you for free.0 -
if its any help i have the original manual for a vaillant GA 100 boiler.... I can scan whatever section you like and e-mail if that may help0 -
It probably is an S86 spark module.
Go to www.customer.honeywell.com, look on the lower right hand corner of the screen, click on literature and type in S86 for a tech sheet to download and print out or view on screen. No charge and no password required.0 -
