Replace Pressuretroll with Vaporstat?

Is it a good idea to replace a pressuretroll with a vaporstat on a residential oil fired boiler if the pressuretroll needs to be replaced anyway?

Are there any special factors that need to be taken into consideration?

One thing with this boiler is that it might be a tight fit getting the big vaporstat diaphram housing to fit. (There is a sheet metal shroud with the boiler switch and a light closeby.) Would it be bad to put a 45 ell on the nipple leading to the pigtail to give it clearance to fit?

Also, there is no limit on the length the nipple should be within reason, right? I need it to be about 10" long to clear some other controls.

And do I know if I need a Honeywell L408A (switch breaks) or a L408B (switch makes)?

Also, I may want to replace this boiler with a Burnham Independence gas fired one before next winter. Would I be able to swap the vaporstat out to the new boiler if I get it? Would that be a good or bad idea? Would it create any warantee issues?

When your installer orders your new Burnham, have him ask the supply house to credit the presurtrol toward a replacement vaporstat. We do that all the time.

The supply house may also take back the Chinese fittings that come with the boiler in trade for real ones.
